Redeemed to glorify God
You, the Lord of the universe – you’ve created everything with your word. To you we give our glory and our praise. Not as a way to repay you for what you’ve done for us, for much have you done. My heart cannot comprehend the greatness of it all. But because you are worthy. Because you are God. The universe proclaims your glory and your greatness. Galaxies, star clusters, yes, all the things our wise men struggle to understand and comprehend, all came into being by your will. You who are light, you who are eternal. You are holy and righteous.
To you we come with our praise.
We lived in darkness and could not enter into your light in worship. Death was our master, death was our destiny. Creation groaned. We searched for more. More knowledge, more power, more understanding, the satisfaction of the soul. Instead of seeing the life you’d planted in the midst of your garden, we sought our way past it in the hope of becoming our own masters.
Great was the fall. Humanity met death. Man became a slave. Not to an enemy without, but to the pride and corruption within. Sin.
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.
The Lion – The Lamb – you are victorious. Not by cutting down with the sword. But by laying aside your glory, though you were in the form of God. You who came down from above.
You died for me – and in you I have life.
You led me back to your garden. You gave me to eat of life itself. The tree of life that stands there, flourishing.
You became my intercessor before our Father. You became my substitute, my guarantee. Your blood became my blood. You, my King.
To the woman at the well you said that the Father must be worshiped in spirit and in truth. Through your sacrifice you made it possible. You have awakened my spirit and given me the belt of truth.
Now, together with the people of God, I come to worship you, Father. You who are eternal, you who are holy, you who are righteous. Forever and ever.
